Brian & Anna, adoptive family
Our Story:
We met in college and were friends for over a year before we realized how much we wanted to be together and went on our first date. We became engaged shortly after graduation, and have been married now for over four years.
We have always looked forward to having children, biological ones as well as adopted. Anna’s two youngest siblings, Jeffrey and Katherine, are both adopted, and adoption was a topic we discussed at length even before we were married. We agreed that even if we had no trouble conceiving, it was something we wanted to consider in the future as a way of growing our family.
About a year ago, after months and months of trying, we discovered that we are infertile and unlikely to conceive on our own. We decided to move forward with our plan to adopt, albeit a little sooner than we had anticipated. We both feel ready to be parents and are eager to welcome a new little baby into our hearts and home.
Anna, in Brian’s words:
Anna will be a wonderful mother to our child. She is the most patient, trusting, and giving person I have ever known. She is also a natural with children, given her great sense of humor and love of fun and games. Her hobbies include reading, painting, and photography, which allow her to express her creative side. She works as a much sought-after graphic designer whose creative flair has already led her to set up a beautiful nursery in our home, now ready and waiting for our child.
Brian, in Anna’s words:
I can’t imagine a better gift for our child than having Brian as a dad. He is unfailingly kind, and always thinks of others before he thinks of himself. He works hard as a high school math teacher, and is respected and admired by his students as well as his peers. In his spare time, he likes to work in the garden or relax with a book in our backyard hammock. He’s an experienced outdoorsman, and he can’t wait to take our kids hiking, boating, and camping.
Our Home:
We bought our first house right before our wedding and have been here ever since. It’s in a wonderful neighhborhood, with lots of friendly neighbors, a good school close by, and a pool and recreational area. We have a four-bedroom house, with plenty of room for a baby and more children to come. Anna’s family lives nearby, and Brian’s one state over, so we’re also in a great location to see our parents and siblings. Our families are very close-knit, and all our relatives are ready to welcome and love a new member of the family.
Both of us believe that children are a great gift. We have always pictured a house full of kids, laughter, and love. We will do everything we can to provide him or her with happy, bright future and a supportive, loving home.
